Abstract
Two French Vincentian bishops, both from Hérault, served in Peking in the years 1880 to 1930. Secondy reviews their individual histories and shows how they related to each other. The relationship developed in troubled times (the Boxer rebellion in particular), and the development of missionary strategies (education, in particular) around the period of the First World War, and growth of the Church at that time. Maps, photos, and tables strengthen the work.
