About

Winifred Curran is an associate profesor of geography at DePaul University. Her research focuses on the effects of gentrification on urban neighborhoods and the links between public policy and gentrification. Her work has looked at the effect of gentrification on small-scale manufacturers in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and the packaging of ethnicity in the gentrification of the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago. Current reserach looks at the links between environmentalism and gentrification and the gentrification of public schools. She received her PhD in geography from Clark University.
