About
Kayla Freemon is the Associate Chair and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminology at DePaul University. Her research focuses on justice system accountability, applied program and policy evaluation, and violence prevention, with an emphasis on using data-driven methodologies to inform public policy and crime and justice in the English-speaking Caribbean.
Dr. Freemon received her Ph.D. in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Arizona State University, where she also served as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Center for Violence Prevention and Community Safety. She holds an M.S. in Justice, Law, and Criminology from American University and a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Loyola University Chicago. Dr. Freemon previously worked as an International Affairs Specialist at the U.S. Department of Justice and served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Guyana.
